The more of these devices that you and your neighbours have operating in the band, the slower your connection is. So you'll enjoy fewer dropped connections and more than 40% faster media streaming.ĭual Band SupportMany Wi-Fi devices, from other tablets to baby monitors, only operate in the 2.4 GHz band. This allows reception or transmission over both antenna simultaneously to increase capacity and reliability. Two Antennas, Better BandwidthKindle Fire HD is the first tablet to feature dual Wi-Fi antenna and Multiple In/Multiple Out (MIMO) technology for powerful, HD-ready Wi-Fi. Kindle Fire HD solves that by using state-of-the-art dual-antenna, dual-band Wi-Fi for over 40% faster speeds than the original Kindle Fire. Without it, you get video buffering, slow downloads and dropped connections. When it comes to HD content, bandwidth is everything. The result: deeper bass in your music, loud, rumbling movie soundtracks and room-filling stereo sound without distortion, even at higher volumes. And with this much power, we can push our speakers hard. Kindle Fire HD features dual-driver stereo speakers on both sides of the display for a wide field of sound similar to that of a home stereo. It even optimises the audio differently when you have headphones plugged in, so you can just sit back and enjoy, worry-free.ĭual-Driver Stereo SpeakersBig sound. Kindle Fire HD is designed to automatically optimise the audio profile based on what you are doing, such as watching a movie, listening to music, or talking on Skype. Dolby Digital Plus includes technology used to adjust volume, create virtual surround sound, and deliver easier to understand dialogue in movies and TV shows. That's why Kindle Fire HD features Dolby audio, dual-driver stereo speakers, and auto-optimisation software for clear, crisp, balanced audio.Įxclusive Dolby AudioKindle Fire HD uses the power of Dolby Digital Plus to create a world class audio experience, with or without headphones. Low quality sound can ruin your HD entertainment experience. This results in a display that shows the same deep contrast and rich, detailed colour when viewed at any angle. Kindle Fire HD addresses this issue by applying an advanced polarising filter directly to the LCD panel. But displays that only use IPS still appear washed out at various angles, such as laid sideways in bed, flat on a table, or propped up in a case. Richer Colours at Wider AnglesLike many tablets, Kindle Fire HD uses In-Plane Switching (IPS) to improve colour reproduction. Kindle Fire HD solves this air gap problem by laminating the touch sensor and the LCD together into a single layer of glass, creating a display that's easy to view, even in overhead light. This air gap allows light to come through the touch sensor and reflect off the LCD, causing added glare for the user. Reduced Screen GlareMost tablet displays are made up of two pieces of glass - an LCD on the bottom and a touch sensor on the top, separated by an air gap. Kindle Fire HD features a new 1280x800 high definition LCD display that brings your content to life. High Definition Touchscreen DisplayRich, HD video. Kindle Fire HD also delivers rich colour and deep contrast from every angle, with an advanced polarising filter and anti-glare technology. I hope you make the right decision for your family, for mine it looks like I will have to go elsewhere.Kindle Fire HDWhen it comes to HD displays, great resolution is just the start. We could be if apple pulled their head out of the sand. Hopefully someday soon there will be tablets that do it all, we just are not there yet. I am saddened that Apple is forcing me out of their ecosystem. I need to checkout what android has to offer in the way of controls as well. I may have to pick up a KF when the 10 is released and see if the game play is as bad as some have claimed. Amazon gets what is like to be a parent in the digital age, Apple does not. Kids will be kids and given the choice will play angry birds or minecraft over reading. Games are great but there needs to be a time limit. But I can't stand over them constantly and make sure they are actually reading when it is reading time. Have 2 iPad 3s and would love to get 4s and pass the 3s on to them. Mac has them, so apple knows how to do it. Cost is a factor but so is the lack of realistic and effective parental controls in iOS. I am in same situation 7and 10 year old boys.
